SUNDAY, June 17 is Open Farm Sunday, which is co-ordinated by LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming).

Many farms, including Attwell Farm in Beoley, will be opening up all over the country and organising lots of activities.

At Attwell Farm, which is based in Seafield Lane, visitors can enjoy mini beast hunts, competitions, a chance to see pedigree Aberdeen Angus cattle, pedigree Suffolk sheep, turkeys and chickens, a guided tour by the farmer and farm staff who will answer any questions people might have.

Face painting and a picnic area will be available together with refreshments with the opportunity to sit on farm machinery. Some of the farm’s suppliers will also be involved in the day so the public can get an overall picture of what is involved in the food chain process. Visitors will also be given a voucher off any purchases from Attwell’s website.

This is a free event, and there is only a small fee for competitions, refreshments and face painting, proceeds from which will go towards local charities and to LEAF.
