Support Autumn Ewe lamb Sale at St Boswells and Wooler Marts.

The Border Suffolk Sheep Club is delighted to be supporting cross-Suffolk breeding in conjunction with the extremely well-known local Borders Livestock Auctioneer, John Swan Ltd.

Thursday 4th September sees the first leg of the joint venture, St Boswells (Melrose) Mart at John Swan’s renowned ‘Principal’ autumn ewe lamb sales.

As is usual for this calendar highlighted event, there are two pre-sale classes for pens of 50 Suffolk-sired “Top” Suffolk cross ewe lambs – but for the first time, the Border Suffolk Club is sharing the sponsorship with the Mart by adding supporting prize money and tickets to 4th place.

Judge for the Suffolk Cross classes will be respected Auctioneer Ralf Ward, from Frank Hill & Son, Hull.

With a total of 4228 ewe lambs entered, 1,220 of which are Suffolk-sired, this promises to be a busy day for the Mart.

Steven Wilson, MD of John Swan Ltd is delighted to further the Company’s association with the Border Suffolk Club so in addition,  at Wooler on Wednesday September 24th there will be a new venture; a pre-sale show - three classes for Suffolk-sired lambs. This time pens of five, with a Championship, all supported by the Border Suffolk Club.

There is a strong mutual desire to promote the Suffolk in this region. Club Chairman Micky Walton (Roseden and Lilburn Estates), welcomes the initiative, which commenced with a show and sale of Suffolk-sired Prime Lamb at St Boswells in July 2013.
