It is with great sadness that the Society has lost one of its great stalwarts, Phil Poole of the Salopian Flock, friend and business associate of many, sadly passed away after a long and courageous battle against Cancer finally succumbing to it on Sunday the 6th September 2026. Our thoughts are with Jill, Russell, Lucy and the extended family at this sad time.
Phil was one of the flamboyant characters of the breed, never holding back with his thoughts and you always knew exactly where you stood. He will be sadly missed by many around the sale circuit in particular, in general and also a cheery voice at the end of the phone.
The Salopian flock was always, and still is, at the top of the tree with many breed accolades to their credit including multiple wins of the National Flock competition, Multiple sire of the year titles and holding the breed record for a ram sold at a Society sale of 200,000gns for Salopian Solid Gold, one of the most influential sire in the flock book today.
