One of the final Suffolk Sales of the year ended on a high, topping at 22,000gns for a ewe lamb which was the only entry from Dennis Taylor’s Ballynacannon flock. 

This lamb was sired by Mountford Mustang and out of a Loughanleagh bred dam by Kells Wingman. She was purchased by Messrs Paterson from Huntly, Aberdeenshire.

At 12,000gns and best of the shearing gimmers was a Maidenstone bred gimmer from Finn Christie. This gimmer won Overall Scottish National Champion at Angus Show and has won every sheep Interbreed she has entered. Sired by Castleisle Blackadder and out of a homebred dam by Crewelands Kingpin who also bred the 2023 Highland Show champion. This gimmer was purchased in a half share between Messrs Hutchinson, from Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria and Messrs Innes from Huntly, Aberdeenshire.

12,000gns for Maidenstone gimmer

The next best gimmer at 6000gns was from James and Jenni Cannon’s Redbrae flock. A full sister to £10,000 Redbrae Poldark she was sired by Forkins Samson out of a Limestone Legacy daughter. She sold in lamb to Cairness Crafty and was purchased as a half share between Messrs Priestley, Co Down and Messrs Cockburn from Perth.

Also at 6000gns was L & M Liggett’s ewe lamb Carony 01815. This ET lamb was sired by Carony Cha-Ching and out of a homebred daughter of 44,000gns Ballinatone Show Stopper. She was purchased by Messrs Borthwick from Mauchline, Ayrshire.

The first lot into the ring got the sale off to a flying start when selling for 5500gns. This gimmer from Craig Paterson’s Cranorskie flock had been their show gimmer this summer and her wins included Champion at New Deer, Turriff and Keith Shows. She was sired by Pyeston Highlander and out a homebred dam by Birness Banter.

The best of Jimmy Douglas’ offering sold for 5000gns to Messrs Moir from Fraserburgh. This gimmer was sired by Cairness Cooper out of a Whitestone sired dam and sold in lamb to Pyrus Best of the Best.
