Date: Friday 12 June 2026
Judge: Alastair Gault, Forkins Flock

On a perfect morning for showing livestock, the Suffolk classes at the Royal Three Counties Show were judged on Friday 12th June 2026.

Presiding over the ring was Alastair Gault of the Forkins flock, who approached the task diligently and methodically throughout the day before selecting his Champion sheep for 2026.

Special thanks go to the stewards in the ring who ensured the sheep flowed smoothly through the classes and helped maintain the pace of competition throughout the show.

Studdolf Flock Takes Top Honours

Overall Champion from Studdolph

It was a memorable day in the short history of the Studdolph flock (FK24) owned by Mr Carwyn Lewis and Miss Non Thorne of Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire.

Despite joining the Suffolk Sheep Society relatively recently, the flock continues to collect notable successes, none more significant than securing the Overall Champion title.

The winning sheep was entry number 942, a two shear and over ewe carrying the tag NAT:23:10779. She is sired by Myddle Sparticus and out of a Frongoy ewe purchased from breeder Dafydd G Jones as one of the flock’s foundation females.

Reserve Overall Champion also went to the Studdolph flock with entry number 949. This homebred shearling ewe, carrying the tag FK24:25:00503, is sired by Lakeview Double Choice and out of a Birness dam (1W:23:03777). The ewe had already enjoyed success earlier in her career when she stood Reserve Overall Champion as a ewe lamb at the Royal Welsh Show.

Following lengthy deliberation among extremely competitive classes, Judge Alastair Gault selected the pair as his Champion and Reserve Champion.

The strength of the female lines within the flock was evident throughout judging and demonstrates the foundations being established for future success.

Male Championship

Champion Male was awarded to Arnie Oare, Groes flock with entry number 933 from the Ram Lamb class. The ram lamb stood out in what was a highly level and competitive class of sheep.

Reserve Male Champion was awarded to Sally Beale and the Rookery flock with entry number DND:26:01192.
