Carlisle Suffolk In-lamb Show & Sale 2025

The Annual Carlisle collective female sale was held at Borderway mart on 7th November. As always it drew a good show of genuine sheep which sold to a keen bidding crowd.

The show beforehand was judged by Graham Denby. He found his champion in a big smart upstanding ewe lamb by Carony Cha- Ching from Myfyr Evans (Rhaeadr flock) which went on to sell for the top price on the day at 4,000gns going to Alan Blair (Thornfleet). Myfyr’s other lambs forward made 1,600gns & 2,000gns to Andrew Cross & Oliver Watson.

The reserve champion went to a good gimmer from John Gibb (Cairnton) she was by Jalex Power House & in lamb to Strathbogie Showman and sold for 2,200gns to Ms. Goulsbra Lincolnshire. Other gimmers from John’s pen made 1,600gns twice and 1,000gns, he also rounded off a good day with a ewe lamb making 1,500gns also to Ms. Goulsbra.

James Wallace (Claycrop) brought down a good pen of gimmers, he averaged 1,180gns for 5 topping at 1,600gns to B. Vance Newton Stewart. Jim & Jenni Cannon (Redbrae), regulars at this sale, brought their usual smart gimmers selling to 2,500gns for their 2nd prize & 2,000gns both going to Hannah Roberts Denbigh. Jimmy Douglas had a good level trade selling to 1,800gns & averaging 1,275gns for 8.

Ewe lambs had a catalogue entry of 20 with only 2 failing to find new homes. Other notable prices included Pam Lupton’s (Kexbeck) 2nd prize lamb by Carony Cha-Ching selling at 1,300gns to the judge and Mark Evans (Jubilee) 3rd prize lamb making 1,000gns to James Wallace, with another from the same home knocked down to Richard Batty, Kendal at 1,500gns.

Gimmers averaged 1134.72gns ewe lambs averaged 1082.22gns.
