Following a positive sales season 2025 for the Howgillfoot flock with sheep forward at three of the Society sales, it is with great pleasure that we can announce the Sire of the Year 2025 – Howgillfoot Commander.

The ram was bred by Lilia Hutchinson and having had the foresight to retain a share with Mullinvale, has reaped the rewards for their flock this year. A son of Pyeston Real Deal he was sold last year at Lanark for 30,000gns at the drop of the gavel. Progeny sold this year by Lilia, two at Lanark and one at the National Show and Sale at Shrewsbury, delivered an average of 19,333gns for the top three prices.

Well done and congratulations to Howgillfoot!

2025 Sire of the Year – Howgillfoot Commander

Reserve this year goes to Conchar Cruiser which was bred by Paula & David Reid from Dumfriesshire, Scotland. Sired by Claycrop Classic and from a homebred ewe, Jed Sharp and Benni Lacharden, Sharps flock purchased the ram at the National sale in Shrewsbury in 2024.  The three lots averaging 12,667gns was enough to earn them reserve sire of the year in 2025.
