Celebrating ‘The Midlands’ 50th Anniversary

Many thanks to all our members past and present for supporting and being part of the Midland and Southern and Midland and Eastern Area Branch of the Suffolk Sheep Society. In this 50^th anniversary year we are very pleased to welcome a new County to our Branch, LINCOLNSHIRE. The Committee Members would like to offer a very warm welcome to the Lincolnshire members who are now officially part of The Midland and Eastern Area Branch.

HISTORY

On the 17th April 1973 The Midland and Southern Area Branch was formed at a meeting in Banbury Stockyard, some of the elected committee members were Mr J F Biddulph, Mr Hallam, Mr J Cook, Mr Harding, Mr Cox, surnames many of you will be familiar with today.

In 2002 the proposed area changes meant that the name of The Midland and Southern Area Branch would change to The Midland and Eastern Area Branch and the counties which would form this new area were, Cambridgeshire, Cheshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Oxfordshire, Norfolk, Northampton, Nottingham, Suffolk, Staffordshire and Warwickshire.

On 11th December 2003 the Midland and Eastern Area Branch held its first meeting at the Royal Hotel, Ashby-De-La-Zouch.
