The Suffolk Sheep Society is once again organising the National Youth Championships. This year’s event is held at Myerscough College, Lee Farm, Moss Lane, Bilsborrow, Nr Preston PR3 0RU on Saturday 19th November 2022.

The 2022 Youth Championships is open to all young breeders up to 26 years with an interest in the Suffolk breed and succeeding in the sheep industry. The event is intended to be a day of learning and fun where competitions will cover a range of topics in a number of interactive sessions such as stock judging, lambing simulation and flock management.

The Society has already contacted a number of young people using its database of youth members. However, if you promote to all your young members to ensure that every young breeder has an opportunity to compete.

The order of the day is that competitors will arrive at 1.00pm where lunch will be provided. For those competitors who would like a tour of Myerscough College Farms and Campus then please arrive at 10.30am to meet the Farms Director. The competition starts at 2:00pm. There will be 2 Classes, where up to 16 year olds (at the 31st July 2021) will compete for the Tillydesk Cup and over 16 and up to 26 year old (at the 31st July 2021) will compete for the Westcarse Cup. Each competitor will receive Suffolk Sheep Society Merchandise and a Certificate. There will also be prize money for the top three in each class. 

Entry to the competition is by completion of the attached form. These should be returned to the office by Friday 4th November. For competitors under 18 then parent/guardian should complete the relevant section on the form.

Accommodation for the Friday evening can be booked locally at The Premier Inn Preston North Hotel PR3 ORN and is 5 minutes from the venue.
