Brought up on her family`s rented dairy farm in Bethlehem near Llandeilo, her father was a keen horse man as well as a pedigree Holstein Friesian breeder (Stilbrook), and her mother enjoyed the arty things in life, and so the seed was sown.
Her life revolved around animals and art, showing cows and horses, competing in dairy stock judging, and later judging horses at local shows, feeding her knowledge of the breeds and their conformation.
