The Suffolk Sheep Society held a judging, guess the weight and value competition as part of it's stand at NSA Scotsheep 2016.  There were two categories, one for juniors 18 or under, and another for over 18s.  Messrs Dean and Andrew Anderson, Smallburn Farm, Plewlands, Duffus, Elgin donated £350 sponsorship for the junior class.  The Society gave £150 sponsorship for the senior class.

 

 

The results of the judging of the four lambs on display are as follows:

1st lamb X, 2nd lamb Y, 3rd lamb B and 4th lamb A

The combined weight of the mule ewe and her two suffolk cross ewe lambs was 119.5kgs

The combined weight of the texel cross ewe and her suffolk lambs was 174.5kgs

The value of the mule ewe and her two lambs was £178

The value of the texel ewe and her two lambs was £234

2nd prize £100 James Scott, Fearn Farm, Fearn, Ross-shire

3rd prize £75   Archie Herdman, Edlinghan Newtown Farm, Alnwick

4th prize £50   Lewis Campbell, Lunnan Larch, Balvicar by Oban, Argyll

 

Senior class winners (over 18)

1st prize £60  Alistair Sutcliffe, Wraycliffe, Carlton in Cleveland, Stokesley

2nd = prize £35 Billy Gray, Sornbeg Farm, Galston, Glasgow

2nd = prize £35 David Padkin

3rd prize £20 David Mitchell, Burnhouse Farm, Wiston, Biggar
