Spring Lamb Competition
Kilrea Market hosts Suffolk Club Spring Lamb Competition
The North Antrim & East Londonderry Suffolk Sheep Club Annual Spring Lamb Competition was held in Kilrea Market on Monday 4th May 2015. The event was very kindly sponsored and Judged by local Butcher Paul Sloan who runs a very successful business in Ballymoney. Paul had a tough task placing the good entry of Suffolk spring lambs before selecting his overall Champion pair of lambs from the pen of Martin Denver from Randalstown. These weighed 23kg and made the top price of £92 each. Martin had a good day out in Kilrea when he also took the ribbons for the second and third placed Suffolk cross lambs. Taking the overall Reserve Champion award was the pair of lambs from RC & JC Watson Rasharkin, these weighed 22.5 kg making £88 each. This was the first placed pair in the pedigree section with second place going to Martin Butler and Packie Donnelly taking third place.
The club would like to thank Paul Sloan for Judging and for his very generous sponsorship and also Kilrea Market for their support.
