South of Ireland Branch Open Day

By Suffolk Sheep Society 13th July, 2013

Very successful and enjoyable open day at Arthur and Susan O' Keeffes

We had a very successful and enjoyable open day at Arthur and Susan O' Keeffes on Saturday last. It was great to see so many new faces on the day. These new breeders who have joined the Suffolk Sheep Society in the last while were given an excellent demonstration on washing and preparing sheep either untrimmed or trimmed for shows and sales. This was followed by a discussion and demonstration on the breed points of Suffolks and what to look out for when purchasing breeding stock. The art of showing and presenting sheep before a judge was then given.
We then had a tour of the flock viewing the showteam , ewelambs , gimmers , stockrams and the current crop of ramlambs. Finally we enjoyed as always the impeccable hospitality of the O' Keeffe family.
Many thanks to the O' Keeffe family and all who helped out on the day.
